Mourinho reportedly open to Brahim Diaz exit as Real Madrid consider squad reshuffle

Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly placed Moroccan international Brahim Diaz among the players who could leave the club this summer as he begins shaping the squad according to his vision.

According to reports from Latigo Serrano, Mourinho is prepared to consider the departure of the versatile attacker as Real Madrid look to generate funds for priority reinforcements, particularly in defence, with Croatia international Josko Gvardiol among the names linked with the Spanish giants.

Although Real Madrid’s hierarchy appreciates Diaz’s ability to operate in several attacking positions and his importance as a reliable squad option, the club could listen to substantial offers. The reported valuation for the Moroccan midfielder is between €60 million and €80 million.

Diaz first joined Real Madrid from Manchester City in January 2019 but found regular opportunities difficult to come by under Zinedine Zidane, making only 11 appearances during the second half of the 2018-19 campaign.

In search of more playing time, he moved to AC Milan on loan in September 2020. His stay in Italy was later extended, and the Spaniard-born Moroccan developed into an influential player for the Rossoneri, showcasing his creativity, technical ability and versatility across the attack.

After returning to Madrid in the summer of 2023, Diaz fought for a place in the first team and provided valuable depth in the attacking department.

However, with the emergence of Arda Güler and the arrival of highly rated Argentine talent Franco Mastantuono, competition for places has intensified, potentially putting Diaz’s long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu in doubt.

No final decision has been taken regarding his departure, but the coming weeks of the transfer window could prove decisive as Real Madrid continue their restructuring under Mourinho’s leadership and evaluate offers for players who are not considered untouchable.
