Trabzonspor have announced they have opened formal negotiations to sign Mohamed Salah, raising the possibility of one of the most prominent moves of the transfer window.
The Turkish club confirmed the development on Tuesday evening in a short statement posted on its official X account.
“Negotiations have begun regarding the transfer of Mohamed Salah to our club,” Trabzonspor said.
The statement did not provide further information about the proposed deal. No details were given about a possible transfer fee, the length of the contract or how far discussions between the two sides have progressed.
Minutes before the announcement, Trabzonspor’s official social media account posted a video featuring the Egyptian pyramids. The imagery was widely understood as a hint that the club was close to securing Salah’s signing.
Turkish media reports had previously claimed that Trabzonspor had reached an agreement with the 34-year-old forward and his agent, Ramy Abbas, over a two-year contract.
The same reports suggested Salah could travel to Turkey within the next few hours to complete the formalities, sign the agreement and allow the club to make an official announcement about the transfer.
Salah left Liverpool at the end of last season after being linked with a number of clubs. One of the strongest previous links was with another Turkish side, Besiktas, although negotiations with that club eventually broke down.
The former Egypt international has also been associated with several Saudi Arabian teams. Those clubs include Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli, Al-Qadsiah and Al-Diriyah.

A separate video involving a supporter was also highlighted in connection with the developing story. In it, a fan asks Salah to join Trabzonspor, before the player gives a reaction. No further details about the exchange were provided.
Salah’s reported availability has generated significant interest since his departure from Liverpool, with clubs in Turkey and Saudi Arabia among those linked to a move for the Egyptian forward. Trabzonspor’s announcement now places the Turkish club at the centre of the latest speculation, although the terms and timing of any potential transfer remain undisclosed.
