OGC Nice are close to agreeing the transfer of France winger Mohamed-Ali Cho to newly promoted Premier League club Hull City, with the deal expected to be worth about 20m euros (£17m).
According to L’Equipe, the two clubs are nearing an agreement for the 22-year-old forward, who is expected to leave the French club during the summer transfer window. If completed at the reported value, the move would become OGC Nice’s most significant sale of the summer.
Cho joined OGC Nice two years ago from Real Sociedad in a deal worth approximately 10m euros. His departure would therefore give the club a substantial profit, while also supporting a wider financial strategy that requires Nice to reduce expenditure and generate significant income during this transfer window.
Hull City want to add greater pace and potential to their attack as they prepare for life in the Premier League. Cho is viewed as a young, quick player with considerable room for development, qualities that have attracted the newly promoted club despite his relatively modest statistics during his time in Nice.
The winger remains under contract with OGC Nice until 30 June 2028. However, his athletic ability and long-term potential have ensured that he retains a strong reputation in the transfer market.
Unless there is a late change to the negotiations, the clubs are expected to settle the final details of the transfer soon. Cho’s departure would allow Nice to accelerate their own recruitment plans, with the club already progressing on several possible additions to their squad.
Cho, whose current value is estimated at 15m euros by Transfermarkt, is now set to take on a new challenge in England. The move would give him the opportunity to develop his game in one of the world’s strongest leagues and attempt to take the next step in his career.
The France international, who is of Moroccan and Ivorian origin, has been the subject of interest from several clubs. Hull City now appear to be in the strongest position to secure his signature, with negotiations between the English and French clubs understood to be at an advanced stage.
For OGC Nice, the proposed transfer represents a sizeable return on an attacking player signed for roughly half the reported fee two years ago. For Hull City, it would provide an investment in a forward whose physical qualities and potential could strengthen their options as they begin their Premier League campaign.
