Liverpool have placed Brentford right-back Michael Kayode at the top of their list of defensive targets for upcoming transfer windows, according to CaughtOffside.
The 22-year-old Italian defender of Nigerian descent has also attracted attention from Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham, with the clubs monitoring his progress closely.
Kayode has established himself as an important member of the Brentford squad since joining the London club. His performances and potential have made him an attractive option for several leading English sides seeking a versatile defender capable of making an impact from the flank.
Liverpool are understood to be particularly impressed by Kayode’s qualities and have identified his recruitment as a priority. However, they face competition from both the Premier League and Italy.
Arsenal, Newcastle United and Tottenham are all reportedly keeping track of the situation, while Juventus and other Serie A clubs are also said to have taken notice of the defender’s performances.
Brentford, however, are not expected to make a move easy for any interested club. The London side are believed to value Kayode at between 60 and 65 million euros and may demand a fee within that range before considering his sale.
Kayode remains under contract with Brentford until 2032, giving the club a strong negotiating position. No official offer has reportedly been submitted at this stage, with Liverpool continuing to assess the situation before deciding whether to make a formal approach.
Transfermarkt estimates the former Fiorentina defender’s market value at 40 million euros.
Brentford are due to play Aston Villa in their sixth league match of the season. The published betting odds for the fixture list Brentford at 2.40 to win, a draw at 3.40 and Aston Villa at 2.55.
