At 22, Karim Konate is emerging as a target for a number of leading European clubs after continuing to impress for Red Bull Salzburg.
The Ivory Coast striker’s finishing and athleticism have drawn attention in both the Bundesliga and the Premier League, with Borussia Dortmund understood to be among the clubs monitoring his progress most closely.
According to Fussball-News, Dortmund are following the forward’s situation, while Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt are also interested in his profile.
In England, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are continuing to track Konate. Several other Premier League clubs have reportedly made initial enquiries through his representatives at Unique Sports Group.
No formal discussions have yet taken place between Red Bull Salzburg and any of the clubs monitoring the player. The interested sides are still assessing him through scouting reports, video analysis and statistical data, although some early contact has been made via Konate’s representatives.
A move in the next winter transfer window has therefore not been ruled out.
Konate remains under contract with Red Bull Salzburg until 30 June 2028 and is regarded as an important part of the Austrian club’s attacking plans. Salzburg would ideally like to keep him until the summer, but they could consider a sale if their financial demands are met and a replacement is secured.
The club are reported to have placed a valuation of between €20m and €25m on the striker. That figure is significantly above his current estimated market value of €12m, according to Transfermarkt.
Dortmund’s interest comes as the club prepares to face Werder Bremen in their fifth Bundesliga match of the season.
