Swansea City have signed Ghanaian winger Joseph Opoku from Belgian side Zulte Waregem in a permanent transfer worth €6.5m.
The 20-year-old left-sided attacker has agreed a four-year contract running until 30 June 2030 and will wear the number 22 shirt for the Championship club. He joins Swansea with a market value of €4.5m, making the fee a significant outlay for a player of his age and experience.
Opoku arrives in Wales after helping Zulte Waregem to the Belgian Second League title in the 2024-25 season, securing promotion and earning the first major honour of his senior career. The move brings his stay in Belgium to an end as he heads into English football for the first time.
Standing at 1.72m and preferring to operate as a right-footed left winger, he adds pace and direct attacking threat to Swansea’s wide options. His development in Belgium and recent championship success provide the club with a player who has already experienced a promotion campaign at senior level.
Born on 8 August 2005, Opoku joins Swansea at the age of 20, with his contract tying him to the club through his early peak years. The transfer was completed on 23 July 2026, confirming his switch from the Jupiler Pro League to the Championship.
