Jorge Jesus was confronted by an angry Portugal supporter on his arrival in the country ahead of Sunday’s Nations League meeting with Norway.
Footage published by Portuguese newspaper A Bola showed the coach being targeted by a fan whose outburst reflected the growing tension surrounding Jesus and his decisions involving Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
As Jesus arrived at Porto Airport with the Portugal delegation, the supporter shouted: “You’re worth nothing, Jesus. You’re a disgrace, man.”
The fan continued his criticism, bringing Ronaldo into the confrontation and defending the Portugal captain.
“Your ego is as big as the Eiffel Tower,” he said. “You’re not even worth Ronaldo’s finger. He is the greatest athlete of all time.”
The incident comes during an increasingly heated public debate over Ronaldo and the decisions being made by the coaching staff. Discussion of the captain’s position has extended beyond the pitch, with Jesus now facing close scrutiny from supporters before Portugal’s latest Nations League fixture.
A video of the confrontation was also shared by OGB on 2 October 2026, showing the supporter addressing Jesus as the Portugal delegation arrived.
Portugal are due to face Norway on Sunday evening in the fourth round of the Nations League. The atmosphere around the team has ensured that attention will focus not only on the result but also on Jesus’ technical decisions and the possible effect of the controversy surrounding Ronaldo on the national side.
The angry reception has added further pressure on Jesus before the match, with supporters waiting to see how the coach responds as Portugal prepare for the meeting with Norway.
