Bundesliga side Hoffenheim have reportedly opened talks over a move for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Malick Yalcouyé following his impressive loan spell at Swansea City.
The 20-year-old Ivory Coast international has emerged as a transfer target for the German club, with discussions said to have already begun with the player’s representatives as Hoffenheim look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Yalcouyé is reportedly open to a move to the Bundesliga, where he would have the opportunity to continue his development with regular top-flight football.
Swansea performances attract Bundesliga interest
Yalcouyé enhanced his reputation during his loan spell at Championship side Swansea City, producing a series of impressive performances that caught the attention of clubs across Europe.
Although he has since returned to Brighton, reports suggest he is unlikely to feature prominently in the Premier League club’s first-team plans this season.
That has fuelled speculation over his future, with Hoffenheim now emerging as one of the clubs most interested in securing his signature.
Brighton in strong negotiating position
Despite the growing interest, Brighton are not believed to be under any pressure to sell.
Reports indicate the Seagulls have already rejected three offers for the midfielder, signalling their determination to maximise the value of one of their brightest young talents.
Yalcouyé remains under contract at the Amex Stadium until June 2029, leaving Brighton in a strong position during negotiations. His current market valuation is reported to be around €12 million.
Hoffenheim continue negotiations
Hoffenheim view the Ivorian as a player capable of adding both quality and long-term potential to their midfield and are expected to continue discussions in an attempt to reach an agreement.
For Yalcouyé, a move to Germany could represent another important step in his career after gaining valuable experience in English football with Swansea.
