Burkina Faso international Hervé Koffi has expressed his delight after completing a season-long loan move to Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise from RC Lens ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper returns to the Belgian Pro League following an impressive loan spell with Angers SCO in Ligue 1, where he established himself as one of the division’s most consistent goalkeepers.
Fresh challenge in familiar surroundings
Koffi arrives at Union after producing a series of outstanding performances for Angers during the 2025/26 season, keeping 10 clean sheets in Ligue 1 and playing a key role in the club’s campaign.
Although he returned to Lens at the end of his loan spell, his future remained uncertain before Union Saint-Gilloise secured his services for the new season.
The move marks a return to familiar territory for the Burkina Faso international, who previously represented Royal Excel Mouscron and Sporting Charleroi in Belgium.
Excited for new chapter
Speaking after completing the move, Koffi said he was eager to begin the next stage of his career.
“I am very happy and proud to become a Union player today. I am delighted to now be part of this family.
“It is a club with a wonderful history, but also an impressive track record in recent years. That really motivates me and I hope to be able to make my own contribution here.”
Union strengthen goalkeeping department
Union Saint-Gilloise believe Koffi’s experience and leadership will strengthen their squad as they prepare to compete domestically and in Europe.
The Stallions goalkeeper brings extensive international experience and has become one of Burkina Faso’s most dependable players, earning praise for his reflexes, command of the penalty area and consistency.
If Koffi reproduces the form that saw him excel at Angers, the Belgian club could look to activate the option to make his move permanent at the end of the season.
The loan offers the experienced goalkeeper another opportunity to continue his development while helping Union Saint-Gilloise pursue further success during the 2026/27 campaign.
