Erling Haaland could potentially leave Manchester City without a transfer fee if the club is found to have breached financial regulations, according to sports lawyer Paul Gilroy.
Gilroy said players may be able to terminate their contracts in such circumstances, even if there is no specific clause allowing them to end their agreements under particular conditions.
He added that trust must always exist between a club and its players, suggesting that a breach of financial rules could affect the basis of that employment relationship.
The issue was then raised with former Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher, who responded with a joke. Gilroy subsequently gave his answer.
