Glody Lilepo: DR Congo winger joins Al-Ahly from Kaizer Chiefs

DR Congo winger Glody Lilepo has joined Libyan Premier League club Al-Ahly from South African side Kaizer Chiefs.

The 29-year-old plays as a right winger and arrives at Al-Ahly after 18 months with Kaizer Chiefs. Lilepo joined the South African club from French side Valenciennes in January 2025 in a move valued at €500,000.

Lilepo began his senior career in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he represented OC Renaissance and AS Vita Club. He moved from OC Renaissance to AS Vita Club in 2020 on a free transfer, having previously spent time with the club before a loan spell at Eswatini side Mbabane Swallows.

His career then took him beyond Central Africa. Lilepo left AS Vita Club for Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in August 2022, before transferring to Valenciennes the following season. He made the move to Kaizer Chiefs after one campaign in France.

The attacker was born in Kinshasa and stands 1.85m tall. He is right-footed and has represented the DR Congo at international level, adding experience from clubs in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Saudi Arabia, France and South Africa to his new team.

Lilepo’s arrival is his latest career move after a spell with Kaizer Chiefs in the Betway Premiership. He now continues his career in Libya with Al-Ahly, who compete in the country’s top division.

The transfer from Kaizer Chiefs to Al-Ahly was completed on 3 August 2026.
