Guinea-Bissau and Portugal midfielder Francisco Junior has joined Drammens BK as a free agent, bringing the experienced central midfielder back into football after a spell without a club.
Junior, 34, completed the move on 2 September 2026. The Bissau-born player is right-footed and stands 1.72m tall, with central midfield listed as his preferred position.
He last played for FC Botosani, whom he joined in August 2024. Junior left the Romanian club in February 2025 and remained without a club until his move to Drammens BK.
The midfielder has spent much of his career playing across several European leagues. His experience includes spells with Strømsgodset in Norway, Vendsyssel FF in Denmark, Hapoel Haifa in Israel, Gaz Metan and Sepsi OSK in Romania, as well as English clubs Everton, Wigan Athletic and Port Vale.
Junior joined Sepsi OSK from Gaz Metan on a free transfer in July 2022 and helped the club win the Romanian Cup and Romanian Super Cup during the 2022-23 season. He also won the English third tier with Wigan Athletic in 2015-16.
His career record includes 79 appearances in the Eliteserien, with three goals and three assists, alongside 68 appearances in Portugal’s top flight. He has also played in Israel’s Ligat ha’Al, England’s League One and a range of domestic cup and European qualifying competitions.
Junior’s most productive recorded campaign came during his time at Strømsgodset, where he established himself in Norway’s top division after arriving from Everton in February 2016. His career also includes loan spells with Vitesse, Strømsgodset, Port Vale and Wigan Athletic while he was contracted to Everton.
The move gives Drammens BK an experienced midfielder whose career has taken him through clubs in England, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, Israel and Romania. Junior began his development with Benfica’s youth sides before moving into senior football.
Francisco Junior’s transfer to Drammens BK was completed on 2 September 2026.
