Ferran Torres keeps Paris Saint-Germain option open as he says ‘no one knows’ in football

Ferran Torres has left the door open to a possible move to Paris Saint-Germain after admitting that football’s next developments cannot be predicted.

The Barcelona forward was asked about his future while appearing in the United States during a promotional event with sportswear company Under Armour. Speaking in an interview on the Today programme, broadcast by NBC, Torres was questioned about reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

He first emphasised that he remains under contract with Barcelona. Asked about the possibility of joining the French club, Torres said: “At the moment, I have a contract with Barcelona.”

However, the Spain international then added a remark that is likely to fuel further speculation over his position at the Catalan club.

“But honestly, in football, no one knows what can happen,” he said.

Torres’ comments come during the transfer window, when attention is focused on the futures of players who could be targets for clubs elsewhere. While there was no confirmation of a proposed move in the interview, his acknowledgement that football can change unexpectedly is likely to keep the Paris Saint-Germain rumours alive.

For now, his stated position is that he remains a Barcelona player and is tied to the club by a current contract. The forward nevertheless avoided ruling out a change in circumstances, ensuring that his brief response would attract attention beyond the promotional event in the United States.

The remarks also underline the uncertainty surrounding transfer discussions, where reported interest does not necessarily lead to an agreement or a completed move. Torres did not provide details of any negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain, nor did he indicate that a transfer was imminent.

His comments followed a question specifically about the French club, rather than an announcement concerning his future. Even so, the combination of his contract confirmation and his subsequent qualification has created a more open-ended picture of what may happen next.

Torres was also described as the scorer of the goal that gave Spain their second World Cup title. His latest media appearance, however, centred on his club future and the possibility of a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

With Barcelona still holding him under contract, any change would require developments beyond the statements made in the interview. At this stage, Torres has confirmed his existing link with Barcelona but suggested that he cannot predict where the situation may lead.
