Eric Junior Dina Ebimbe is close to completing a move from Eintracht Frankfurt to Schalke 04, with the newly promoted Bundesliga club having agreed a deal for the Cameroon international.
The 25-year-old midfielder is preparing to leave Eintracht Frankfurt after three seasons with the club. Although his contract with Frankfurt was originally due to run until June 2027, he is now set to begin the next stage of his career in Gelsenkirchen.
An agreement has been reached between the two clubs, according to Florian Plettenberg. Schalke will pay 1m euros for the transfer, while Eintracht Frankfurt have negotiated a 25% sell-on clause that would give them a share of any future fee received for the player.
Dina Ebimbe is expected to sign a two-year contract with Schalke 04. The agreement will also include an option for a further season, meaning the midfielder could remain under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2028.
The transfer is now progressing through its final formalities. The first part of Dina Ebimbe’s medical examination has been completed successfully, with the second stage scheduled to take place today. Subject to the completion of those checks, the move is expected to be finalised.
Dina Ebimbe spent last season on loan at Stade Brestois after being developed at PSG. His time in France provided an important opportunity to revive his career and re-establish himself as a significant player at club level.
During his spell with Stade Brestois, he became an important member of the team and produced a strong statistical return in Ligue 1. He made 27 league appearances and scored five goals over the course of the season.
That form has helped restore his standing ahead of a return to the Bundesliga, where he will now join a Schalke 04 side that has only recently secured promotion. The move represents a change in direction for a player who still had two years remaining on his original Eintracht Frankfurt contract.
Dina Ebimbe’s current market value is estimated at 6m euros, six times the guaranteed transfer fee agreed between the clubs. However, Eintracht Frankfurt’s 25% sell-on provision means the German club could benefit financially if Schalke later transfer the midfielder for a higher amount.
The midfielder’s immediate priority is to complete the remaining medical checks before putting pen to paper on his contract. Once that process is concluded, his move to Schalke 04 will mark the end of his three-season spell with Eintracht Frankfurt and his return to the Bundesliga after his loan campaign with Stade Brestois.
