Everton have completed the signing of Arsenal midfielder Christian Nørgaard, with the Premier League club confirming the move on Wednesday without disclosing the fee.
The 32-year-old Denmark international has signed a two-year contract with Everton, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028. English media reports have valued the transfer at about £7m.
Nørgaard moves to Everton after just one season at Arsenal, where he joined from Brentford in the summer of 2025. The Gunners paid an initial £10m for the midfielder, with the deal potentially rising to £15m through performance-related bonuses.
Arsenal gave Nørgaard a two-year contract with the option of extending it for a further season when he arrived at Emirates Stadium.
The defensive midfielder made 20 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions during his only campaign with the club. However, he was unable to establish himself as a regular starter in Mikel Arteta’s side.
He did finish the season as part of the Arsenal squad that won the Premier League title.
Nørgaard brings considerable Premier League experience to Everton, having played a key role in Brentford’s rise to the top flight. Before joining Arsenal, he made 196 appearances for the Bees, helped the club secure promotion to the Premier League and served as captain.
He also wore the Denmark captain’s armband on several occasions and has won 41 international caps.
Everton announced the transfer in a statement from the Liverpool-based club, confirming that Nørgaard had formally completed his move to the Toffees.
The move ends the midfielder’s brief spell with Arsenal and returns him to a central role after he became an important figure at Brentford. His previous time at the club included a significant contribution to their progress into the Premier League, as well as leadership responsibilities within the team.
Although the financial terms of the Everton agreement were not made public by the club, reports in the English press put the fee at approximately £7m. The contract length means Nørgaard is set to remain at Everton through the end of the 2027-28 season, unless the club and player agree to a further extension.
Nørgaard’s arrival also gives Everton a player with experience of leading at both club and international level. He has already captained Denmark in a number of fixtures and accumulated 41 appearances for his country.
At Arsenal, his opportunities were limited during a single season in which he featured 20 times across all competitions. Despite not becoming a first-choice player under Arteta, he was included in the squad that ended the campaign as Premier League champions.
