Equatorial Guinea-Spanish centre-back Charles Ondo has joined Hdd from Portland 2, completing a move to the OBOS-ligaen club on 2 September 2026.
The 22-year-old has signed a contract running until 31 July 2028. Ondo, who was born in Madrid, is 1.90m tall and left-footed, adding a centre-back with experience in the United States to Hdd’s squad.
Ondo moves to Norway after 20 appearances for Portland 2 in MLS Next Pro during the 2026 season. He scored twice across 1,662 minutes, starting in 79% of the available matches. He also received two yellow cards and was sent off once during the campaign.
Although he featured regularly for Portland 2, Ondo did not make an appearance for Portland’s senior side in Major League Soccer during the 2026 season. His move to Hdd therefore represents a change of league and country as he begins his next chapter in European football.
The defender joined Portland 2 from Welling Utd on 1 April 2025. Before that, he had spent time with Ebbsfleet, including a loan spell at Hemel in the first half of the 2024-25 season. He joined Welling after leaving Ebbsfleet on a free transfer in January 2025.
Ondo’s earlier career included spells in the Huddersfield Town academy system. He moved from Huddersfield Under-19s to the Under-21 side in July 2022, then spent part of the 2022-23 season on loan at Waterford FC. He returned to Huddersfield Under-21s in April 2023 before moving to Ebbsfleet the following year.
The player has represented both Equatorial Guinea and Spain in the nationality records attached to his profile. His arrival gives Hdd a defender with experience of youth and reserve-level football in England, a loan period in Ireland and competition in MLS Next Pro.
Ondo’s contract with Hdd runs until the end of July 2028, and the transfer from Portland 2 was completed on 2 September 2026.
