Bologna defender Emil Holm faces up to six months out after surgery

Bologna defender Emil Holm has undergone surgery to repair a tendon in the hamstring of his right thigh.

The Sweden international had the operation on Friday morning in Finland. Professor Lasse Lempainen carried out the procedure in the presence of Bologna club doctor Luca Bini.

Holm will remain at home to rest before beginning a rehabilitation programme. Bologna expects the player’s recovery to take between four and six months, according to a statement from the Serie A club.

The injury is a significant setback for Bologna, who are currently 18th in the Serie A table.
