Al Hazem have announced the signing of Congolese forward Afimico Pululu on a free transfer, confirming a move previously reported by Koora. The 27-year-old former Jagiellonia Białystok striker will lead the club’s attack next season following the departure of Syrian forward Omar Al Somah.
Al Hazem confirmed the deal in a video posted on their official account on X. Pululu arrives after an impressive campaign in Poland, where he scored 21 goals and provided eight assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.
The transfer had been anticipated since 18 July, when Koora reported that Pululu had undergone a medical examination in Tunisia ahead of a proposed move to Al Hazem during the current summer transfer window.
Pululu has been brought in to fill the place left by Al Somah, who left the club at the end of last season after spending one campaign with Al Hazem. The Syrian striker scored nine goals and supplied one assist in 26 matches for the club.
Pululu’s most notable individual achievement came in the 2024-2025 season, when he finished as the UEFA Conference League’s leading scorer with eight goals. His performances also attracted interest from Al Ahly, who reportedly opened negotiations to sign him during the previous winter transfer window.
Those talks did not ultimately result in a transfer, and Pululu instead remains in Europe until his move to Saudi Arabia.
The forward began his professional career with Swiss club Basel, joining their first team in 2019. He moved to German side Greuther Furth in 2022 before completing a transfer to Jagiellonia Białystok the following year.
During three years with the Polish club, Pululu made 134 appearances, scoring 56 goals and recording 17 assists. His ability to operate as a winger as well as a central forward gives Al Hazem an additional attacking option as they prepare for the new season.
The agreement sees Pululu leave Jagiellonia Białystok after establishing himself as one of the club’s most productive players. His arrival represents Al Hazem’s first major step towards reshaping their attack after Al Somah’s exit and follows a season in which the Congolese international produced the most prolific numbers of his career.
Al Hazem’s announcement also confirms the club’s decision to act on Pululu’s previous record rather than recruit a direct replacement with the same profile as Al Somah. Instead, they have signed a forward who can contribute both as a goalscorer and from wider attacking positions.
